Right to Information –RTI

Right to Information Act, 2005 (22 of 2005) (“Act”) has been enacted by the Parliament and has come into force from 15 June, 2005. The Act provides for right to information for citizens to secure access to information under the control of public authorities in order to promote transparency and accountability in the working of every public authority.

According to UGC guidelines all Universities and Colleges established by law made by Parliament or by State Legislature or by notification by the appropriate Government or owned, controlled or substantially financed directly or indirectly by funds provided by the Government shall come within the meaning of a Public Authority under this Act.

Procedure:

  • Apply on plain white sheet in using Kannada or English language.
  • Submit the same to the Public Information Officer of the college as appointed/nominated by the Principal.
  • By Paying the prescribed fee of Rs.10/-.
  • After receiving the application and the fees, the concerned citizen will be issued a receipt mentioning the application number, date and details of the concerned.
  • 30 working days is the time limit for the seeker to get the information.
  • If information is given by the third party then invite objections if any it will take 10 more days extra.
  • Further information on the same issue will be provided free of charge which is only within that time limit (30 days) or else it will be concerned as new application.
  • If it is a personal information the college can ask for the concerned person or authorities concerned to the case in that matter to give in writing for the same.
